Gelcoat Repairs
Chips, scuffs and cracks can spoil the appearance of an otherwise well-kept boat. BrainWaves GRP provides specialist gelcoat repairs for sailing yachts, motorboats, RIBs and other GRP vessels. Based at Universal Marina in Warsash, we travel to boats across Southampton, Hamble and the wider Solent.
We repair local damage to hulls, decks and GRP mouldings, assessing the affected area before selecting the preparation and repair method. Where cracking is linked to movement or damaged laminate, the underlying problem needs attention as part of the scope.

Colour matching, shaping and layered gelcoat application help the repair blend with its surroundings. Once cured, the surface is finished and polished to suit the existing gloss. We aim for an unobtrusive result while taking account of the age and condition of the original gelcoat.

We repair chips, scuffs, scratches, gouges and local cracking, including star crazing. Damage extending into the fibreglass may also require structural repair.
Yes. We match the repair to the surrounding gelcoat, taking account of its current colour and condition rather than relying solely on a factory colour reference.
We aim for a seamless blend in colour, shape and gloss. Exact invisibility cannot be promised for every surface, particularly where ageing or previous repairs affect the surrounding finish.
They can if the cause of movement or stress remains. We assess the area and discuss whether associated laminate work or attention to fittings is needed.
Contact us with photographs of the pattern and damaged area. The repair options depend on the texture, access and the extent of the damage.
Photographs often allow an initial estimate for cosmetic damage. Include a wider view and the boat’s location. Inspection may be needed where depth, access or hidden damage is uncertain.
