I'm Danny, the founder of BrainWaves GRP, specialising in professional GRP and gelcoat repairs for boats and yachts across the Solent and beyond.
My background combines experience in both the military and the marine industry. My time in the Royal Marines gave me a strong foundation in attention to detail, discipline, reliability and taking pride in doing a job properly, values that I’ve carried with me throughout my career.
Over the past decade, I've worked hands on within the marine industry, working on anything from personal craft to superyachts where exceptionally high standards of finish and attention to detail are expected. During that time, I've built extensive experience across cosmetic gelcoat repairs, colour matching, structural GRP work, non-skid repairs, hull coatings and larger restoration projects.
After many years working within the trade, I decided to take that experience and build BrainWaves GRP, with a simple aim: to provide boat owners with a reliable, professional service and a standard of workmanship I'm genuinely proud to put my name to. We pride ourselves on just doing the job properly so the repairs are permanent and invisible (as they should be).
Based at Universal Marina, Warsash, I'm ideally positioned in the heart of the Solent boating community, working with private owners, boatyards, brokers and marine businesses across the area and further afield.
I understand how much pride owners take in their boats. Whether I'm repairing a small gelcoat chip or carrying out a more involved structural GRP repair, I approach every job with the same attention to detail, taking the time to prepare it properly, achieve the closest possible colour and finish match, and leave a repair that blends seamlessly with the surrounding boat.
Outside of work, I'm a dad of 2, I enjoy mountains and running long distance—combining the two is a joy of mine. I like spending time on the water, whether on my rib, paddleboard or open water swimming and I practice in Brazilian jiu jitsu when I can.
