Structural GRP Repairs
BrainWaves GRP carries out structural fibreglass repairs on sailing yachts, motorboats, RIBs and other GRP vessels. From fractured hull laminates to damaged deck structures, we assess the affected area and plan repairs around the vessel’s construction and the extent of the damage. Based at Universal Marina in Warsash, we provide a mobile service across Southampton and the Solent.
Structural damage can extend beyond the visible crack or impact mark. Our work focuses on establishing the condition of the surrounding laminate, removing compromised material and rebuilding the affected structure with suitable reinforcement and resin systems.

We consider access, existing laminate construction and the repair finish before work begins. Where a surveyor or engineer’s specification is needed, we can work to an agreed repair scope. After reconstruction, the area can be faired and finished with gelcoat or the appropriate hull coating.

We work at suitable marinas, boatyards and storage locations around Hamble, Southampton, Gosport, Portsmouth, Lymington and Chichester. Repairs below the waterline usually require the vessel to be ashore. Access, protection, curing conditions and yard permissions are considered when arranging the work.
We repair damaged hull, deck and transom laminates, including fractures, impact damage and areas affected by delamination. Core replacement and rudder repairs are also available through our specialist services.
Yes. We assess whether the crack is confined to the surface or affects the structural laminate, then plan the repair around the damage and the hull’s construction.
No. Some cracks are limited to the gelcoat, while others indicate movement or damage beneath it. An inspection helps distinguish cosmetic repairs from work to the underlying fibreglass.
Many can, provided there is suitable access, a protected working area and yard permission. Depending on its location and severity, the damage may require the boat to be lifted out.
Yes. Send the report or specification with your enquiry so we can review the proposed work and discuss access, materials and any inspection stages before quoting.
Cost depends on the extent of the damage, access, construction and finishing requirements. Photographs help with an initial discussion, but concealed damage may require inspection or opening up before the scope can be confirmed.
